The BisMan Community Foundation has awarded its 2026 SuperGrant of $50,000 to Dakota Children’s Advocacy Center (DCAC) for its Backyard of Hope project.
The project will create a safe, welcoming outdoor space for children and families who have experienced abuse and trauma. Planned features include a playground, patio, green space, therapy dog area and walking loop, with privacy and safety central to the design.
About the Project
The Backyard of Hope will extend DCAC’s healing environment beyond the walls of its new center, providing opportunities for therapeutic play, counseling, connection, reflection and respite.
Using trauma-informed design, the outdoor space will promote safety, trust, well-being, healing and privacy for children, teens, families and staff.
DCAC anticipates moving into its new space in July 2027, a milestone that coincides with the organization’s 30th anniversary. The SuperGrant specifically supports the outdoor Backyard of Hope project.
